Located on the eastern coast of China, Jiangsu Province is home to around 80 million people and is one of the most technologically advanced provinces in the country. To maintain its competitiveness and achieve inclusive development for its citizens, the province has committed to green its economy. The Chinese Government is committed to working with PAGE to tackle the various development challenges it faces, starting at the provincial level in Jiangsu.

2016: Identifying challenges and opportunities
In 2016, Jiangsu Province enacted its 13th Provincial Five Year Plan. To enable effective delivery of this plan, PAGE launched a stocktaking report, highlighting key issues and challenges, best practices and priorities for greening the economy in Jiangsu.
In wide consultation with stakeholders, 5 key areas were identified as priorities for PAGE support towards the realization of this plan and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Green Economy Indicators Workshop
The lack of a commonly agreed green economy indicators framework at the provincial level has been identified as one of the key challenges where PAGE is providing technical support. A green economy indicators workshop was organized on 18 June 2016 by the Nanjing University to start discussions on the application of a measurement framework for green economy progress.
Based on the IGE Progress Measurement Framework developed by PAGE, the discussions focused on the application of the framework in Jiangsu drawing on inputs from experts from national and provincial research institutes. Around 20 participants, from research institutes, governmental agencies and civil societies attended the discussion.
How does PAGE's work in China meet its objectives?
